Ten years ago I wrote “And His Love Shone Down” It is a book full of the true life story behind
my life as a gay woman. It is a book I wrote and self published under the name Elizabeth
Barrett and Tori Bovard. It was written during a time when I felt I couldn’t use my real name
because of the fear of what the people who hurt me would do to stop me.
For twenty years I was forced into the closet by my church, family and friends. I lived my life in
secret because of what they did to me because I loved another woman. In the name of God, I
was jailed, injured, homeless, and abandoned by family and friends. In the name of God I was
stripped of my children even though I was found to be an exceptional parent. In the name of
God I was treated like the scum of the earth.
Yet in God’s Love He Spoke To Me. He picked me up from the hatred forced on me by this
world and planted my feet on the true foundation of God. He taught me a new way to see my life
and He inspired me by giving me scriptures that justified my lifestyle.
This book is more than a story of hatred waged against gay people. It is a story of revelation in
this dark and evil world. It is a journey that leads to paths of wisdom for those who dare to see
beyond the teachings of the modern day church.
